Non-chemical water treatment units for home - EZV D

1. Purpose
The EZV..D water treatment units are designed for prevention of scale formation and/or for scaling. You are sure to know what scale means. Just recall scaled shower roses heating coils of washing machines, water heaters, dish-washers, or internal ports of water closet tanks. Do-it-yourself know how much scale they removed from boilers when replacing a heating element, or how time-consuming (and money-consuming, too) was the cleaning of, for example, a flow heater. 2. Negative effects of scale
Scale, or incrustation as its technical term, has a number of adverse effects on equipment of our households. Apart from the above mentioned problems, they include increased consumption (due to higher thermal resistance), reduced piping throughput (pressure loss in water distribution system) , and last but not least, reduced life of some equipment due to incrustations.
3. Is prevention possible 
Certainly, it is. There are several methods available, most of them being based on chemical principles. The simplest answer to the scale problem is provided by so-called soft water which does not contain any incrusting substances. Unfortunately, this kind of water is very rarEZV, s.r.o.e in our water main systems. In addition, it is not much pleasant to people, animals, or plants because it contains no or very little minerals. Ideally, we should use standard, commonly available water (with a specific mineral content), without any scale formation. This is conditioned by adapting standard water physical properties. And this is closely related to the essence of the EZV® units, notably advanced and ecology-friendly, i.e., physical, treatment of water.
4. Principles of physical water treatment
Physical water treatment is based on violating bonds of incrusting substances (mainly calcium and magnesium) with water molecules, usually by means of an electromagnetic field. Depending on which electromagnetic field component prevails, we distinguish electrostatic-based and magnetic-field-based units. Physically treated water maintains its positive properties for the period of about 72 hours after the treatment process, which is sufficient for household needs. The effect of permanent magnets upon scale formation has been known for some time now. A dynamic development of digital technology, and mainly, low microcomputer prices made possible to design EZV® water treatment units generating a pulsing dynamic, highly non-periodic, magnetic field at a higher-quality level. These units are characteristic of low power consumption (3W max. ) , and high temperature and time stability. In addition, they can be connected to the information management systems. 5. EZV..D water treatment advantages
Main advantages of this water treatment technique includes:
. simple installation (assembling a coil from an enclosed conductor, and fixing the unit) without imparing piping integrity, minimum power consumption, long maintenance-free and attendance-free operating life
. reduced consumption of detergents
. treated water supports plant growth, and kills water bacteria
. treated water is pleasant to people suffering from skin diseases and kidney stones.
6. Place of installation
You are recommended to install your unit at the cold water inlet of the system to be protected. When connecting the unit to a local water main observe the left hand Figure. When connecting the unit to your own source (well) you are recommended to observe the right hand Figure: As to the right hand Figure variants, it is ALT.1 variant which is recommended, that is, attaching the unit to the water reservoir outlet. In confined spaces the unit can be attached to a piping section between a pump and a water reservoir (ALT.2). The following Figure illustrates unit installation, including conditions to be observed. A coil generating a magnetic field must be attached to a straight piping section, at a distance from elbows, valves, fittings, etc. equalling at least three times the piping diameter. If overall chemical hardness of water is higher than 20°C, we do require the compact unit to be utilized during the treatment of such water.
7. EZV unit application benefits
Evident effects of water treatment can be observed after some period whose length depends on several factors, including treated water hardness, volume of flowing water, and water system condition. In addition, it is affected by a piping diameter: with piping of a smaller diameter, evident effects can be expected as soon as after 2-3 weeks, while with piping of a larger diameter the period required is one month and more. Typical positive effects include the following:
. scaling at water piping outlets, shower roses, etc. softens, and can be easily removed
. cleaning surfaces with treated water is easier
. scale released in water piping can impair water flow through a valve (unscrew the valve, and fluch the piping with a stream of a water to remove incrustations)
. when heating service water by electric power, heated water seems to be warmer, with the thermostat set up to the same level - this results from better passage of heat after removing incrustations from heating elements
. in the case of highly scaled systems, an increased pressure and flow rate can be observed after some time
. scale gradually disappears from water closet tanks, too.
